What are the signs that they a mature enough for this? And what is the average age of such Baby budgies - either to be ready for a Pet Store to continue the process or an indivual to take directly from the breeder? And what is the feeding procedure and care of such baby and when is it ready to wean it onto seed and the average age of the baby Budgie when it reaches this point? What happens if they send out the baby too early to the Pet Store or to an indivual?

As a breeder of budgies, The procedure we use is to let the parents raise the young at the same time as taking the young out of the box and handling them. At about 6 weeks old the young are eating on their own, the parents are either in the process of or have weaned the young and the young are separated into a another cage. We like to watch the young for about a week to make sure they are all eating quite well on their own before selling them, but thus far this has been an unnecessary precaution. By the time a buyer receives one of our birds they are all eating the normal seed, millet and veggies.

Because budgies are so friendly and trainable it is unnecessary to hand-feed them.

If the young is separated before being weaned, it will most likely die unless someone takes the time to finish the process of the parents. But to separate the young before it is weaned is just plain cruel.
