Will putting two parrotlets into..

I got a male parrotlet about two years ago. Then I got a female just under a year ago. They got along fine at first but she has always been very aggre.. 

I got a male parrotlet about two years ago. Then I got a female just under a year ago. They got along fine at first but she has always been very aggressive toward me and now is being mean and aggressive toward him. I thought maybe putting them in separate cages might help, but I don't want either of them getting depressed.

I would try to put them in cages near each other so they can see one another, and maybe get a play stand (If you don't have one already) and let them have play time together everyday. Then keep a good eye on them to see how they are reacting to the change. And go from there.

Good Luck! I have had cockatail all my life and i would first put the two seperate cages close together so they know one another are close by. DO NOT put them in seperate rooms becasue then they will get depressed. My two were together the same as yours and my female was aggressive towards him but when they seperated i could tell she was unhappy and soon afterwards, he died. Well your right to separate them, you don't want to loose a bird. However what you can do is put them in their own cages and then places the cages next to each other.

Sometimes the females become aggressive when the males want to breed and they aren't interested. and that can pass soooo watch them closely. Parrotletts are funny little creatures. I am a breeder of parrotletts. Sounds like typical female parrotlet behavior. It might be smart to separate them for a bit. I wouldn't want you to wake up one morning and find your male dead. If she is chasing him around the cage.then she is telling him she is NOT in breeding condition and to leave her alone. If you have a cage setup for breeding with a nest box. Make sure that you feed the female alot of nestling food or egg food. It will take her about 6 months to get her into breeding condition. I would also clip her wings just the 1st 5 feathers to slow her down and re-arrange her behavior to be a little more social. When you put them in separate cages, I would suggest that you put them near because they will call for each other. Don't put them together til they both sit near each. Then try again.Hopefully this will work for you.Have patience. It is definately a good idea to sesperate the two. You might want to put them into sperate rooms for awhile. As long as they can as they can hear each other, they should be fine.
