Here is my concern: My husband and I would love to get an African Grey parrot, but we like to keep our home on the cold side 63 - 64 degrees. No, we're not Polar Bears.Would this be a safe environment for an African Grey, or our we getting our hopes up only to find that our bird would freeze to death?
Any and all advise is welcome!
Thank You

These birds do not like constant cold and will probably be lethargic, the chances are they will eat more to keep their energy up which means you will be cleaning the cage more.
African Greys can generally be kept at room temperature. Be sure to place your bird and its cage off of the floor and away from drafty areas or hot places like open windows, air vents, and doorways. Most tropical areas have a daytime temperature in the mid to high 70s and aren't colder than 65 degrees at night. Parrots should not be kept in areas that are constantly below 65 degrees, as this can wear down their immune system. An important thing to remember is that birds are most vulnerable to drafts when they are wet; therefore, if the room the bird lives in is 65 degrees, it should be moved to a warmer area to dry after a bath. Birds which habitually bathe in their water dish should be kept in a warmer area at all times.

My African (Wallace) comes over to me when i am sitting watching TV and just snuggles into my neck. you may have to go a litle higher(70-75),just keep it in the warmest room and get it a fluffy hanging bed.should be fine though.read up on parrots.theyre hard keepers. Parrots like the warmth, but it certainly wont freeze to death.
