Zebra finch question?

My zebra finches have only raised one clutch, but I want to know what to do when they need a break. Is removing the eggs from the nest an effective wa.. 

My zebra finches have only raised one clutch, but I want to know what to do when they need a break. Is removing the eggs from the nest an effective way to prevent unhealthy overbreeding? I know it is unhealthy for a pair of zebra finches to raise clutch after clutch. But is it the baby-raising that is unhealthy, meaning I can just remove any eggs the female lays and my birds will remain healthy? Or is the breeding/egg-laying unhealthy, meaning I need to remove their nest to prevent all breeding/egg-laying? I know they can sleep on perches, I just feel so bad to take their nest away if it's not necessary.

Don't remove the eggs, it will encourage the female to lay more causing her to lose calcium from her bones.

If you dont want them to raise any chicks, You can buy fake eggs at a bird store to replace the real ones.

I dont think it will hurt to remove the nest but they may end up laying on the floor of the cage which would not be good. Only let them raise 2-3 clutches and then let them rest for a month or two, if you don't it WILL shorten their lifespan! Remove the nest if you don't want eggs hatching, and the ones you find around the cage, toss. If you want to, you can keep the nest, but will have to be dillegent in checking the nest. I bought a toy big enough for them to sleep on, and now I don't have the eggs hatching and they are content. Letting them sleep on perches is fine as well. they should only have 2-3 clutches a year, after that just take away the nest Take the nest out. A female can get egg bound if she continually lays eggs.
