If i decide to let my cat have kittens its my business. If everyone is so worked up about shelters putting unwanted ones down spend time and donate to.. 

Breeders of purebred dogs, by the way, for the most part (puppy mills excluded) are responsible. Sure, some are total jerks out for the bank of it, but a good, sensible, educated breeder is very responsible. Thats my take on your question. I do see what you mean about people being judgemental - the thing with asking people questions on a cat forum is that we all love our own moggies (or breeds) so much that we believe the only way to show your love is the way we ourselves do.

I personally do not think you're being irresponsible, you've had her a long time and have never let her have kittens until now, you've gone to the effort of finding out if the shelters in your area euthanise in the worst case scenario and to be honest there are many areas screaming out for kittens to offer loving homes to. Round here they're like golddust.

As long as you love your cat, give her everything she needs and never ever jeopardise her help then I see no problem with this. Um..you asked. This is a free country, and as you have the right to ask whatever you wish, others have the right to state their opinion. Just like you're doing now.

No one ever said all shelters euthanize, I believe you're reading what you want to read. I remember what *I* said was that if you want a boatload of cats, go freakin' adopt some. Sheesh.

I don't understand how breeding purebreds is irresponsible? You're quickly making yourself look dumber than you did before.

Squirrels do not procreate at the rate cats do. And a "ton" of squirrels is a hell of a lot different than a "ton" of cats. To compare the two is assanine. I'm sure even YOUR feeble mind can grasp that.
