Why doesnt she sit on my lap?

My little feline baby girl never sits on my lap or wants to be held. I love her so much and am very kind to her but when I try to hold her she always .. 

My little feline baby girl never sits on my lap or wants to be held. I love her so much and am very kind to her but when I try to hold her she always wants to get away, so of course I let her go as I would never hold her against her will. She's just over a year old and I adopted her as a kitten from a good home. She's very loving in other ways, always comes flying in whenever I call her, but she just always wants to be on the go and can't stand to be held. When I hear about people whose cats sit on their laps and like to be held it makes me feel sad that my little girl won't do that. Have I done something wrong?

My wife and I have a cat named Sophie and Sophie only wants to be petted and held when Sophie wants to be petted and held. I truly believe that cats are more like people than dogs are. Most dogs will want to be loved and petted and so on. We have another cat (Fuzzy Butt) who loves to be held and petted and you can't get rid of her. But Sophie only comes when she wants some attention. It's not that your cat doesn't love you it's just that your cat wants to do other things. Once your cat gets older I am sure you will see a change.

Another thing that helps are treats. Sometimes we have to bribe Sophie to be around us with a few kitty treats. :)

Good luck! Give her a little time..she'll start sitting on your lap when she's not on the go so much Don't take it personal. Some cats are lap-cats and some aren't. It's just her nature to be aloof. It's a cat thing. wait until shes a little older she'll calm a bit and be more affectionate!! no u havent done anything wrong some cats just dont snuggle and 4 some it takes a while 4 them to get to love u and snuggle wit u eventually she will if not shes just not a cat that snuggles Is she spayed (neutered). If not. that's why. She's not looking for hugs. Get it? Now if she is.. then that's just her personality. But as she gets older she'll chill-ax. She'll be all over you so get ready. Get her fixed if she isn't and you'll see a different feline. you should try to win your feline friend over with some jello and a cup of warm cocoa. My cat would only sit with by bf and now after 8 yrs she has started to sit with me. She has even purred for me. I don't understand why she suddenly likes me after all this time.
