He has his claws. There are no other cats or animals in our house.

Answers:

Does he jump up and down off of a favorite place or places? If he is constantly doing that, he could have a problem with a tendon. Repetitive jumping can do that, it just happened to a friend of mine's cat. It is sort of common, but you should have it checked out if it doesn't go away in the next day or so to make sure. It could be something more serious. he either fell or jumped from something too high, or may have something stuck in his paw, or cut the pad on something, or if it lasts for more than a few days have him/her checked by a vet Could be old and getting weak .or leg still asleep .. He may have landed wrong while jumping down from something and injured himself. He could have picked something up in his paw that is now stuck in the pads or between them. Inspect them and look for injury. If you find none and the limp persist longer than a day, have him seen by a vet. Well its hard to say but he could have jumped off something and just landed funny and he could have just hurt himself. Or it could be due to old age (if your cat is old). Other than that I really cant think of anything else. My cat is also an indoor cat and he was limping around about a year ago. I felt his leg and it was obvious he was in a lot of pain, so I took him to the vet and he had a very severely broken leg. His hip joint was snapped right off, and his knee was fractured, and his tailbone was fractured. I have no idea how it happened to him but it's possible your cat has a fracture or something too. Good luck, make sure you take him to the vet though, he's probably in a lot of pain. It cost me about $450 to fix my cat's leg, without insurance. He healed up very quickly, and it was worth every penny. Good luck. For a lot of reasons. It could have sprained something, it could be arthritis, iut could be a broken bone, and the list goes on and on. it probablt jumped wrong or landed and pulled a muscle. Are his nails cut back nicely? It is rare, but I have heard of it happening. If a cat gets his nails caught in upholstery, than tries to jump, that can be disasterous for a cat. It can tear leg muscles.
