you need to look for him, becuase he if he is lost he cannot find his way home

first he could be locked in a shed or garage so inform your neighbours

next call your local SPCA or pound or wherever found animals go in your town and leave a LOST report

then put up signs in local stores

continue to look

beaware he might not be lost at all - often angry neighbours pick up cats and get rid of them (either legally or illeagally)

ALL CATS ARE SAFER INDOORS ONLY he might if he's familiar with the neighborhood If he knows his home then yes, there was a cat that lived somewhere else but wasnt taken care of & was really skinny so I fed him and he always came back to me so I kept him. The owners didn't want him. I'm pretty sure your cat will.although that is young, I wish you luck~ Usually cats will come home on their own, I had a friend whos cat was gone for over a year & just showed up one day at the door wanting to come in. Unless it got run over. It all depends if the kitten is only 4 months old it might not come back. I got 2 cats a Male and female. She was an inside cat but for the storm rita she was let out side and she comes back when ever she wants. The male is about 2yrs old he goes in and out whenever he wants yea of course it will! Normally a cat has a very good sense of direction. If a kitty that has known you so long ran away and had been an indoor cat for most of it's life it is unlikely it would wonder far from the house at all. Most indoor cats when they get outside almost freeze and don't run so you have a good chance of simply scooping them back up and into the house again. maybe I wouldn't worry too much about him. My cat, beginning at about 6 months, started taking yearly "vacations"- he would leave for about a week, and come back like nothing ever happened. He's been doing it ever since, and I've learned to stop worrying. Cats have a great sense of direction and homing instinct- I'm sure he'll be back in no time!
