My Pom may have seizures? Have y..

I have a three year old pom - who i think may have seizures - every so often he body tenses up and she cant walk do anything - its heartwrenching - it.. 

I have a three year old pom - who i think may have seizures - every so often he body tenses up and she cant walk do anything - its heartwrenching - it kills me. she tries to keep going - her tail is not affected. her legs just dont work and get stuck in the position they were in when whatever it is that is happening happens - so it may be stuck straight out - or may be tucked it. i dont know what to do. ive taken her to the vet and they said its probably seizures and there is nothing that i can do about it. for the first time tonight she yelped right before it happened, breaks my heart. she is my little dogchild! have you ever seen or heard of anything like this? please help!

I JUST WANTED TO COMMENT. I also have a pom who is 6 years old, and she acts the same way you were

describing. Her legs go stiff and she can"t walk or move .

I have taken her to the vet and told me the same thing your vet told you. They also said if i could get her to them while she was having it they could have a better understanding. I tried but by the time i got her almost there it stopped. She has a seizure about once a month, sometimes she cries out, and i know what you're going through because it breaks my heart to. The only thing i know to do , is while she having one i keep her on the floor and hold and pet her and talk softly to her telling her she is OK. w/in a few minutes it passes.It is heart wrenching watching something like that happen and not being able to do anything about it. You are the only person i have heard of other than myself that goes through this. thank you for letting me comment. Take the "dogchild" to the "dogchild doctor". i don't know but if the vet u took her to had no more to say than that, then i would get a 2nd and a 3rd opinion until someone takes a proper interest and lets u know what is going on. good luck yes , my dog also has minor seizures.i took mine to a vet as you should do the same.My dog does not have them serious or often enough to take medication,so i just make sure he is in a safe area,and pet and comfort him,and talk to him.you should seek a vet for professional advice though Yes. My Lhasa Aphso has seizures. Does the same thing. The vet intially put her on phenobarbitol but it made her sluggish all the time so we took her off it. She only has one or two a month and we just keep petting her and stroking her and she is fine. I know it breaks your heart.but your doggie will be ok. I understand it is common in many smaller breeds. (Our dog is 16 years old.) Fact is, my son has 5 different kinds of seizure disorders so I had plenty of experience prior to our dog having it! The fact your dog yelps first is kind of good that means you have a chance to get to her/him . Your dog is not in pain, jsut to let you know. The yelp is a "short circuit" in the brain and the yelp is common prior to a seize. (same as humans. They may have a "yelp" prior, too.) Take care and if it becomes 2 or 3 a day I would say ask the vet about meds.but if it is just periodically .I wouldnt. Take care. I have never seen it in a Pom but I have in a Chihuahua.the vet said that it was probably genetic and something akin to epilepsy in humans. I feel for you so much.you may want to take your baby to another vet to get a second opinion. I will keep your little one in my thoughts and prayers. my mom has a yellow lab who has seizures. you should definately take your dog to the vet. they do have medicine that you can put her on. the vet told my mom that as long as the dog wasn't having them more than once a month that they didn't need to put her on medicine, but it could depend on the dog definately take her
