My dogs walks are taking an hour..

All summer his walks were short. I work an hour from home. I am getting up at 4:30 am and the walks are longer and longer. he is 7 years old he knows ..

The summer is a time of heat. It is a fact that during this heat dogs can only perspire via their tongues.

Logically, a dog would become uncomfortable quicker in the summer than the cooler weather of Autumn.

Terry they enjoy being in the cold. being in a warm house all day lets them get out in the cold and enjoy it. my dog used to go outside and do his business and then come back in real quick and now that it is cold he will stay outside for a while, it is hard to keep him in. dogs as well as people have more energy when it is cool outside. We and dogs get tired when it is hot and need to take more breaks He likes the cool weather better than heat. I dont think that it is just an answer of energy. Think about this- The dog has been in the house lounging around, and not doing alot, then you want to go for a walk. Energy is part of the equation, but think about the amount of time it will now take the dogs muscles and joints to warm up.

Muscles and joints will warm up much quicker in warmer temperatures, while in cold temperatures, they will take longer.

Along with energy, and decreases muscle/joint flexibility, therefore it takes longer to take a walk. When you get up in the morning. and then sit down on a cold toilet (let's say you left the heater off in the bathroom)
