He is having a hard time getting around. does any one know where she might find a cart or something to help him get around better? He is amputated abo..

Oh, poor guy. I feel so sorry for him. You are a dear friend to take such concern :-)

Here are some links that I hope you'll find helpful. Good luck :-) It will take some time but she will get the handle on having 3 legs. Is the lab overweight? If so, he needs to lose the weight fast. A fat dog on three legs is not good, he is already off balance, and the extra weight is just dragging him down. It is difficult for him to walk. Once the weight is off he should be able to get around perfectly fine. ebay maybe? he will adapt to it- they usually do very well- I had a neighbor dog that had same problem- if not - he can have something made - but then he would have a hard time laying down= D It may take some time, but the dog will be fine, I had a 13 yr old cat had to have a leg amputated and she was fine, my husband had a dog who lost a leg and was fine. He will learn to compensate for the loss of the leg. Just give him time and tell you friend to be patient. Good Luck KG My Grandpa had to have his dog's front leg removed above the shoulder. He was hit by a car. It took him a while to get used to it but eventually he could run 40 miles per hour with only 3 legs! he was about the same size as a lab. I'm sorry that his Labbie lost his leg. I, too, have a 3- legged dog and the good news is, he (dog) will adjust. It is going to take a litte time for the pup to learn to navigate his world with just 3 legs, but it will probably take your friend a little longer to cope with the situation; dogs are very resiliant and not emotional like people may be over losing a limb. My lab does great. She only had 3 legs when I rescued her, but she was overweight and not getting around very well. As soon as we got some of the weight off, she was flying around the farm with her sibling. She thinks she's a herd dog and she even swims!
