Our other dog, Copper, who was very attached to the dog the died, Rascal, is now showing signs of depression. He misses his buddy dearly.

My husband and I adopted Copper (he had a brother, but the shelter recommended we adopt one or the other because of jealously issues the dogs were having). He has always been part of a pair. Now he is alone.

Winter is coming, so I when would be the best time to adopt? My hubby and I are giving Copper more attention now so he won't feel lonely. But both he and I work during the day so there will be moments he's without companionship.

I think that you should get one sooner then later. But do not get a puppy. Get a dog that is at least a few years old, and not too hyper. This may distress Cooper even more. I would suggest adopting a loving dog that needs a friend. If you know what type of dog you are looking for go to petfinder.com and search there for someone who needs a new home. Good Luck! If you got a puppy I think this would make it worse. u should get it in november Get one asap. The sonner you get another pooch, the sooner the other dog will get back to normal. You should look for another dog when you and your husband want to put the time and effort into training and looking after a new dog. If both of you are ready, why not start looking for a new companion now? Getting a new dog will give Copper something else to focus on and will help him get over losing his friend, but you have to want the dog, too. If you recognize this now, then now is the time. Make him a part of the process. Introduce him to the potential new dog, see how they get along. you need to get hima new friend,trust me all animals need friendsi had two birds once one died and within two dyas the other died i thought he would be fine but he wasnt.i wished i had gotten him another friend that same day. The best time is spring because in your country,you have a four-season year.Wait till spring fall as in winter people don't go on selling in a cold day.
