My dog is in heat for the very first time and she went into season a week before her appointment to get spayed and its been 5 or 6 days since she is i..

and is it normal for her vulva to be swollen, no liquid or anything is coming out from it, but what do u reckon it is??

could she be preganant?

she is beginning to have nipples and we havent let her outside so no nieghborhood male dogs have been lurking around.

could it be a false pregnancy??

and a couple of days ago she threw up, is that normal?

im just really worried and hope she isnt pregnant.

It is normal for the dog's vulva to be swollen when she goes into heat. A normal heat cycle last approximately 21 days. She may have started bleeding and you just haven't notice it because she' doing an excellent job licking herself clean.

You will need to be very careful and make sure she's not left alone because every dog i male dog in the neighborhood is going to be after her and you will end up with a pregnant puppy. If her heat cycle has not yet ended, and I'm presuming that it just stated, I highly doubt that she's pregnant.

As for the vomiting, I would call the vet the first thing in the morning, but the rest is perfectly normal. Most vets will not spay a female when she is in heat, but some will, so I would check with him about that as well when you call.

God luck. I hope you don't become a grandma -) It shouldnt be normal! shes just in heat , you can still get her fixed when she is in heat. Yes it is okay, but why didnt you get her spayed anyway. It is fine and safe to have it done while in season. She will just think she is still in season while the hormones are still in her body. quite normal when in heat As a former vet tech I can tell you that a swollen vulva is perfectly normal while in heat. it's just a part of it. Dogs are typically in heat for about 3 weeks. While they can do the surgery while they are in heat, it will be more expensive and there will also b e more blood loss because of the uterus being filled with blood.. I would wait until she is finished to have it done for her sake. It would be easier on her.
