Its life expectancy is 10 years. It needs moderate physical excersise. These dogs are very noisy. Their height is 65-70cm. They are a Good family dog, king and caring with children. It is incredibly agile and light, considering its size. It learns to obey easily and quickly, if an experienced person trains it. Sociable and affectionate, but also a great guardian when neccasary. You can go to Wikipedia.com and write the name of this dog and it will tell you some things about it. oh my god do they jump up on EVERYONE! be warned. they are incredibly loyal and friendly unless they feel threatened, but they are just so so so so large! they are no good on the flat . you need a steep lawn for them to enjoy themselves feed it a lot they have a big appetite Big, sloppy, hungry, hairy great swimmer http://www.petsonthenet.co.nz/bidpyr.shtml. Sorry, I know this has nothing to do w/ your question but I just had to reply..my name is Jeannette too. lol i've never met another person w/ my name. sorry i just had say that lol. The American Kennel Club is the most trusted site! Visit http://www.akc.org to view breeds information. you could try a yahoo or google search, but the AKC info would be the best source.
here is the exact link to the akc breed you are looking for. http://www.akc.org/breeds/great_pyrenees. Your friend or the dog ?? http://www.pyreneans.com/
All about them! Enjoy! These dogs are beautiful, smart, good guard dogs, however, they should not be owned by first time dog owners. They can also be stubborn, try to be dominant, are usually not dog friendly, although often like other animals like cats. They love kids, provided they're raised with kids from puppies. The breed is prone to hip dysplasia so you need to make sure you always buy from a reputable breeder who has their breeding stock OFA certified. They also tend to bark a lot and some of them do drool. I assume you are referring to the Great Pyrenees? I know that these dogs have working bloodlines. They are still kept to guard livestock in many parts of the world. Even here in the U.S., half the breeders you find will have their dogs outside full-time guarding sheep or goats.
