my jack russell wont stop barkin..

i love my jack russell george to bits but his barking is a constant nightmare i cant go out or leave him for 5 mins its so bad i am thinking of rehomi.. 

Even if nothing is technically wrong, it wouldn't hurt to check out some classes at your local Petsmart or Petco. They are inexpensive, and can often provide solutions through behavioral changes. Hi he is probably just board those dogs were breed to be put down into the rabbit and fox holes so they were easyer for the hunters to shoot .You need to liven things up by buying him some toys and buy those Kong toys were you put the food inside of them and they have to get there fave food out and buy him some bones and chew toys .And because they are such an active dog i would probably walk him once a day and if he doesn't run away take him to a dog friendly park were he can meet other dogs and you can meet other people who might be in the same boat you could look on the web for dog parks in you're area. And if he is pineing for you give him something with you're scent on it. And if he is young i would put him into puppy training.

Good Luck with George He is trying to get you to come back, which of course you cannot always do.this dog needs some serious obedience training. Ask your vet if s/he can recommend a good obedience trainer (I would observe several training sessions before I enrolled my dog, you don't want to end up with someone who uses harsh punishment as a substitute for true training, that would do more harm than good); if there is a large, chain pet supply store in your area such as PetSmart you might check with them to see if they offer obedience classes or can recommend someone for you; and of course, attend any dog shows (for any breed) which take place in your area, and talk to the owners/handlers; show dogs by definition must be well trained, these people would be able to point you in the right direction as well. In the meantime..when you need to leave, and ONLY when you need to leave, give him an old shirt or other article of your clothing that has your scent on it; depending on your resources, perhaps an audio recording of your voice would help as well. Good luck, and most importantly of all, don't use harsh punishment to get George to be quiet; he will not only be noisy, but he will become hostile as well and you most definitely don't want that!! I would go to Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer. He has a pack of Pits, I think he could do anything. Also, he has trained many groomers and other people to help with dog behavior. Check into that. My doggie daycare person was trained by Cesar! i had the same problem about 2 weeks ago with my xsbt howling and barking when i left the house. since then things have changed he doesnt do it any more. i leave the radio on for him before we go out and his new favorite toy his kong filled with treats and peanut butter keeps him busy for hours. start by leaving your jr for small amounts of time at first. put your coat on and leave the house for maybe 3 mins then come back in gradually build your time up. by going out and entering at random times will help your dog as he ll feel reassured that you could come home at any time. never come running back into the house when he is barking but always praise him if you enter and hes silent. he ll get the picture. if all else fails you need to speak to a behaviourist. Sounds like your dog may have seperation anxiety. My dog does this from time to time and so does my grandparents dog. I've read several places that what you should do is pretend to leave the house everyonce and a while and when your dog starts to bark come back in and scold them. Most trainers will tell you to have a water bottle sprayer. Everytime your dog barks, tell him "NO" and spray him in the face with water, this does NOT harm the animal in any way and it is the safest and MOST humane way of training. YOU MUST do it everytime and stay consistant. Jack Russells are naturally high strung and snippy, so you must work with this dog. He cannot help his natural instincts, but you can help by training him properly, or placing him in a training class, BUT NOT finding him a new home just because he barks.

We also do this if we have a patient dropped off that tries to snap, growl or bark at us when treating him or her. my sister had a dog that barked like yours does and when she went out she left the radio on and it worked because there was talking etc the dog was quite hope it works
