Why wont mt female betta breed?

I have a female betta who is about ready to explode with eggs. I have both male and female in a 10 gallon tank, shallow water, plants, the whole deal...

I have both male and female in a 10 gallon tank, shallow water, plants, the whole deal. but she shows no interest what so ever in my male. I have fed her quite well, shes in good shape, but isnt receptive. i've looked all over the internet for answers, but have found none. this pretty much is my last resort, can anyone help me? and please, real answers only. thanks a lot!

The temp must be right, they are tropical fish and need a temp of around 78-80 degrees. BTW, there are no similarities between goldfish and bettas (pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah), other than they are both egglayers. Goldfish are cold water fish and come from JAPAN (not China), bettas are tropical and come from Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand (not China) which used to be known as Siam (hence the name Siamese Fighting Fish).

Bettas --- Don't leave the female in the tank with the male. He will kill or damage her eventually. The only time a male tolerates a female is when she has been thoroughly conditioned and has eggs for him to fertilize.

You must keep her away from him and feed her high protein food for about 2-3 weeks so she will produce eggs. You then float her in a jar in his tank so he can see her. He will build a nest. When he has the nest completed, slowly release her so as not to damage the nest.

Now you need to watch them very closely for the next hour or so to see if they are compatible. Sometimes, no matter what you do, the male just doesn't get it. If that is the case, get another male. If it works out between them, he will fertilize the eggs and place them in the nest. When she has no more to give him, you must remove her or he will kill her.
