25 yr old gelding , nose bleeds,..

Brief：
Only happens in summer, Vet checked Scoped nose, inflamed passage not much you can do, would it be better to stall horse , keep cool with fan, etc, ri..

Overheating raises blood pressure which can cause nose bleeds and dry hot conditions can irritate the nose. I would try stalling him during the day (provided it's cooler in the barn) and turning him out at night. You could always hose him off a couple of times per day to help him stay cool. As you've had him scoped, he's not a bleeder and if it's in the lungs anyway, they bleed from both nostrils. Problems with the gutteral pouches can also cause bleeds and you could get them flushed because of mycosis. I would keep him stalled till sun sets let him free while its cool Sounds like allergies could be causing the inflamation, in which case I would stall him. I would allow him to graze for a few hours per day (maybe even with a neoprene type grazing muzzle). Unless it is VERY hot in your stable, I wouldn't put a fan on him as this could actually stir up some of the allergens (depending on what they are). We had a couple of horses with this same problem and stalling them did help but they got very bored as will any stalled horse unless they get lots of "artificial" exercise. So make sure he gets ridden daily or at least lunged and keep some challenges in front of him. You may even want to put a fly mask on him if he also exibits watery, runny eyes which usually goes along with this.
