you can get barrels from a local chemical company that will get chemicals in 55 gallon drums. they have more barrels than they know what to do with and would love it if you took some of them off there hands. I would get the plastic ones it you can so they don't rust out. you may have to pay for the plastic ones because they have a core value but the metal ones they will give you so they don't have to pay to get rid of them. hope this helps you! If you are just getting started I would check yor local paper or farm supply flyer. Lots of times you can pick them up pretty cheap, or free, that way. probably places like marys tack and feed (if you live in san diego) you can also check online and ask around . Here r some sites that have western stuff: http://barrelhorses.com/, www.ebay.com , www.shopzilla.com ect. Try local farms and ask if they have any old ones you can have, fast food places also have them because the cooking oil sometimes comes in drums. I'd ask around before paying for any I always bought them from statelinetack.com but there are a few others. You can try vvv I find a lot of good stuff there :]

Hope this helps! There are a lot of places where you can get them for free. Check with Fast Food joints, fairs, and local farms for old barrells. Trash cans will work if you don't need to look like a million bucks doing the patterns.
There are plenty of sites and mags who sell barrels, and berrel covers. Just compare prices, and look locally, and choose what best works for you. u could get them at a feed store sorry i don't know any places on here
