I am a Hunter but mostly Jumper rider that has been in the English world since I could walk.but I have ridden western more times than I can count including breaking and training. My very closest friend rides barrels, and we get along great! Yes, there are some extremly stuck up and narrow minded English people out there, and there are some very backwards Westrern people out there that have no bussiness owning a horse. If you stereotype everyone you meet from the opposite disaplin based on those types of people than you are no better! Everyone in the horse world can learn something new from someone else no matter what or how they ride. No one around horses knows it all. No, we are not going to agree on everything, but I garrantee you would be amazed with the similarities of the two if you just opened your eyes!

I knew when I saw the question this would open up the battlefield...I think it is the same in this circle as in many others, in that people are generally very narrow minded and biased. Some of you may have read the question on western riders hauling their horses saddled, for example ... I do not think the asker meant to get the western riders up in arms, but that is how many of us (not me!) responded. If you really want to see some snobby riders, go to an AQHA show and watch a few Western Pleasure classes. Want to see some laid back English riders? Check out some of the playdays on the East coast.
