he is nine years old a french tb and is totaly potty to ride and he is worst when he is in the stable with teeth flying towards you and legs.how can i calm him down.

Answers:

it sounds like he doesnt really need to be calmed down he just needs a little disipline and he needs to be worked. i found that the best way to stop biting is to bop them on the nose with your hand and eventually they will realize hey this hurts i should stop biting.

as for him throwing up his legs and bucking or rearing simpily be patient and when he does bad behavior slid your hand down your reins and make him do 10 tight circles every time he misbehaves or make him back up 10 step but NEVER just get off say forget it and let him get away with "murder" Well I can't give you specific solutions, without knowing what he is actually doing, his actions, behaviour etc... As far as the bitting and kicking, he does not respect you. I would first gain respect on the ground, before you got on. I can go into more detail with gaining respect, if you would like. Is he a stallion, or has he been gelded, if he is a stallion, this could be most of his problem, when they are gelded, they tend to relax, and lose some of the fiery spirit. Not to say they aren't going to be fiery still, it will just go down a few notches. You can send me an e-mail, and i will be happy to help you with more specifics. I have 4 horses of my own at the moment, and have had many in and out, so let me know more of the specifics, and i can help you resolve the problems a little better. Sometimes the horse is only as smart (or dumb) as the rider. Sounds like you need lessons. My suggestion is that you find someone knowledgable and have your horse evaluated by them. There is either definate pain issues or training issues going on and without seeing this horse its too hard to evaluate over the net. Your horse may have had a bad beginning in life. Humans are usually always the reason horses lash out. This sounds like a horse with emotional issues that should be addressed. Find out everything you can about this horse's background. If that isn't possible, hope is not lost.
