Absolutely!! :)
I teach all commands from the ground, especially as a yearling, so they are easier to handle and gives me more time to solidify their learning.
Whoa is the first one I teach from the ground then I work to all the rest. Even sidepassing and pivots on the front and rear. Yes it is while you are breaking it in it should learn voice commands, as this will help later on. I know nothing about horses. But my wife says yes it is. Yeah almost definitely.
xx I think that the horse needs to know the voice commands in order to lunge correctly. I personally would bridle the horse and teach it to stand, walk, trot, ect along side me before i put it on the lunge. hope this helps! i dunno? I would say to teach all commands in a round pen so your horse will learn commands, as well as obey you. Do this first before you ride. yes, definately.your horse will learn faster and it makes all things easier from theron in. Some people think that it is better to teach them like that but from past experience it is better to teach them on the lunge line because then they are learning to trot while away from you. If you teach them to trot at your side then some young horses will only trot with a person along side them. I learnt the hard way while teaching a young Standardbred to trot. It turnes out that she wouldn't trot on her own away from a person. Hope this helps. Yes but only if you're sure you can stop him when you want to so he doesn't learn he can just take off and get away from you. Maybe try it with a chain or other stopping device over his nose the first few times. Voice aids are most important when you are training a young horse. It will pay dividends later if you can get him to trot along side you just by asking him. it's vital 2 start working w/ your young animals @ an early age. it's called 'early preparation.' Yes, definitely. It will help him be calmer in the further stages of learning. no its better to go straight to lunge! it teaches them to be more confident as if you do it with a leadrope they are going to rely on someone beside them when trotting!
