Im trying to make a life-sized horse. I cant think of anything to make it out of. any ideas?Answers: The chicken wire idea is the best - we made a who.. 

I'm trying to make a life-sized horse. I can't think of anything to make it out of. any ideas?

The chicken wire idea is the best - we made a whole herd of life sized reindeer for our Christmas parade. Just shape the different parts and use wire to tie them together. We covered ours with brown apolstery fabric of various colors picked up off the clearance rack at Wal-Mart, and then used black spray paint for the feet and muzzle. The ears were triangles of the fabric, kind of rolled and hot glued to the head. We started out safety pinning the "fur" to the chicken wire, but ended up just wrapping it around and hot gluing it as well. We also used extra large "googly" eyes hot glued on. I don't know how long it has to hold up for, or how realistic it has to look, but this might be a start. As far as life sized, I don't know, but maybe extra large pony might come from it! u can try to do a sculpture one hotdogs What about a chicken wire frame stuffed with newspaper or something, and straw or paper mache covering? hmmm.like a stuffed animal?? I would "stuff" it w/ old clothes (since buying stuffing would be expensive)...buy the fabric or use old western clothes and sew together...

err you could try wire, like chicken wire bubblegum cardboard You could buy some cheap metal shelves and cut them into pieces that match parts of a horse. Places like Home Depot or Lowe's have all kinds of interesting stuff like metal mesh and downspouts. I personally would go to my local recycling center and dig though all the scrap metal for interesting shapes. i would say paper mache wire mesh and paper mache'. our kids made a full size alpacca for 4h doing that. use wire to make the body than wrap newspaper in glue around it then let it dry and paint it I second chicken wire. It makes a great frame and then if you want to you can put paper mache on the outside-- to make it appear real.. and keep it hollow on the inside. Then you can paint over it or use creative color paper mache. At a nearby preschool I saw a cute pony they made.
