www.guineapigsecrets.com Go to www.petsmart.com or got to the store. I've had several guinea pigs that have live VERY LONG lives. One lived 15 years, (Tigger, as on Whinnie the Pooh). No matter what your told at pet store, feed them rabbit food. You can get it from a Grain Store, it's cheaper there. Also, give them plenty of fresh veggies and fruits. Don't be afraid to try new veggies. In the summer or if you live in a warm climate, let them out on the lawn to eat (as long as it hasn't been sprayed with pesticide) just make sure they have shade as well and water as they can overheat. Also, in season, give them lots of dandelion greens. Always have fresh water in the cage. We taught ours how to run up the stairs. They were great fun. Trust me, I know what I'm saying, I raised about 12 of them and not one lived less than 6 years.
