Granted I am not in a climate nor an existence where I have to scrape a living off the land.

I have _heard_ that the way you get fur is to electrocute the animal - and I did find a few links, but honestly, just looking up facts to verify what I've heard is sickening.

I know what you mean about PETA. The main problem I personally have with them is I think the methods they use to get their point across aren't quite right. If you beat people across the head with issues, people will tune them out. It's just human nature. There's got to be a better way, and I wish I knew one. Gotta keep working on that! I sell pet chinchillas. They have the softest fur but I simply could not abide wearing a chinchilla coat or any other fur coat. I prefer the flawless beauty of windblown, water drenched, muddy or dusty fur on live animals. I am in a position whereas I could afford a fur but I think most women wear fur as a status symbol and I'm not like that. I would wear fur but not from animals that were only killed for their fur. Animals that have been killed for food are ok because more complete use is gotten from the life that was taken. Many people prefer leather, not fur, because of its strength and durability. It provides physical protection where a man-made product would wear through or tear. I see no reason on earth why anyone would have a "need" to wear the skin of a baby seal. That is just vanity. I agree, PETA has completely discredited itself. If I hunt it is for food but we don't throw away the skin. Every bit that can be used is used. Absolutly not! I wont even where leather and I don't eat meat either. I would like to become vegan but I am alergic to soy and nuts so I have to get protein some how. I dont believe in using animals for entertainment, experiment, food, and fur or leather. The best reason why I would explain why I feel this way is beacause I love animals. Well do you eat hamburgers? Are your shoes leather? Leather jackets are animal skins with the fur removed. Think about it. Are you not realizing you are part of the complaint? I wear leather, suede, fur [mink, fox etc..] In fact I even have a jacket made from a black and white cow [ I presume cow with fur still on ]. I have no shame or apologies. The last person that verbally attacked me for it told me leather shoes were different when I posed the question regarding her shoe material. I don't need to justify it. I can afford them and wear them. Truth be known I gave my mink away to my brothers girlfriend in Idaho because living on an southern island of Texas I didn't need it. Oh I forgot I have a sheep skin coat too. I am recycle friendly too. I gift my coats to the local thrift store when I get new ones. I promise you they sell within an hour or less. First of all, you are looking for a fight that you can't win. Go ahead and call us names and be immature and stomp your feet because there are people in the world that (oh my gosh) disagree with you. Wearing a fur coat does not make someone a murderer any more than the kid that buys a burger at McDonald's.
