Would it be unfair to get a bunn..

I decided to live in the city, so Im 40 miles from a job that I commute to 4 days a week. Id love to get a pet and I figure a bunny could be a good pl..

I decided to live in the city, so I'm 40 miles from a job that I commute to 4 days a week. I'd love to get a pet and I figure a bunny could be a good playmate considering I can't take him/her for walks throughout the day. I've read that you can potty train them to go on newspaper and then let them roam around your apartment.

But would it be unfair to leave him/her to his/her own devices in my apartment 4 days a week? What are the kinds of toys you get a bunny?

You can't leave them to roam around your apartment, that is a total myth. They cannot be properly litter trained, they destroy carpets, and they chew everything, including electronics cords. If you want an independent, clean pet, go for a cat! yes! my dog, me and my mom would leave at 6 and come back at 6 and he was so sad that he would luke in the bathroom evry time we would leave! we hade to sell it cause we couldn't have him do that! so i would not get it and then just leave to work and leave it alone! that would be like really rea;lly really mean to ur animal ok? so no i would not get it!! ok?ok?ok? Hi. This is a hard one because I know just how much company a little pet can be. But to be really honest, these little creatures need companionship too, so being Left alone for so long each week would be very hard on a rabbit. I would encourage you to try a different idea if you love animals as much as I do. And thank you for being so sensitive to ask this question! My roomate and I had a bunny in college. We had it in the dorm until we got busted. We had it potty trained and he did well for the short spurts of time that he was there alone. However, in those short times- he chewed our telephone cords, books, papers, and more than I can't remember I am positive. You could keep him in a cage when you are gone. No different that crate training a dog. Good luck! Buy him a large snake to play with. if you keep him/her in a bunny proofed room and get more than one it so they arent alone all the time it should be fine. My rabbits like sticks, rocks, and all kinds of bunny toys, Petsmart has tons and as long as they are rabbit safe it doesnt matter if the toys were designed for rabbits or not Bunnys are really good at entertaining themselves. Just keep electrical cords away from them. They will actually use a regular litter box so you won't have to mess with newspapers. I had a bunny that liked dog rawhides. I am not sure about the temperament of bunnies. I am a dog person myself, and I have a year old pug who unfortunately is alone for at least 8 hours each week day. Even though I feel horrible about it, I really don't think that they have any true sense of time. As long as you come home to them at some point and give them all of the love and attention that they need then, they should be happy.
