can guniea pigs eat newspaper?

It's supposed to be illegal to use toxic ink on news paper now, but who knows. Carefresh is great for one piggie. I've used aspen shavings for years. The only thing they don't tell you about wood shavings is sometimes there are some small parasites. I keep a spray on hand,"8 in 1 small animal spray" I may have to use it 2 or 3 times a year.

These webs are great, my piggies are all over 6 years old :->) Yea.. they may eat.. even they eat their stool also!! I have never ever seen that. im pretty sure they dont. They are actually sensitive to the ink. Try the Carefresh bedding or aspen wood. Remember they are very sensitive to aromatics and need vitamin c supplements. Nope. At least in my experience. They like to pull it out, shred it and hide under the sheets I put in the cage. Some guinea pigs may have pica (eating of inedible objects) but in most cases they should be okay.

The one problem I did have with newspaper is that it's pretty bad at controlling smell. That's why I switched back to shavings. guinea-pigs like to shred newspaper. Most newspaper ink is poisonous. I only use the Daily Mail papers for my pets as they use non toxic ink. Won't do them any harm to eat SMALL quantities. Give them PLENTY of fresh hay to munch on daily. They are grazers like rabbits, horses etc. That is what they should eat along with their gertie guinea-pig dry mix food. Gertie Guinea-pig has extra vitamin C added which is ESSENTIAL.

Try guinea-pig toys, safe tubes(to hide in)etc, so they don't get bored. Good luck. kpc<123> they do. it doesnt hurt them but doesnt help them either.
