can hampsters get fleas?

Hamsters can definately get fleas. Mine had fleas so bad he was itching all the time! The best thing to do is give him a bath with some dawn dish detergent or baby shampoo and take a flea comb you would use on a cat or dog and just comb him real gently and get those fleas off! If they were exposed, they probably could. yes! Hamsters have hair in which to hide, and blood on which to feed, so they can harbor the parasitic little creatures! Just keep the cage clean, and out of an area that's had fleas before. You shouldn't use any pesticides though. Consult a vet if you have a flea problem. Yes, and ticks and mites. yes they can , they do make a flea and tick spray for small animals , just be cardfull of the ears , eyes and mouth If you can get fleas in your carpet, you can get fleas on your hampster!

Actually, I'm asuming any warm blooded animal can have them. especially the fluffy ones :) Its possible for any pet, or animal to get fleas. Doesnt matter what kind it is! What kind of hamster do you have??
