witch horse to bring on a 2 day ..

i am going on a 2 day trail, there are going to be at least a hunded ppl there, and i dont who to bring. i have 2 horses, a 3yr old and a 6yr old. the..

i am going on a 2 day trail, there are going to be at least a hunded ppl there, and i dont who to bring. i have 2 horses, a 3yr old and a 6yr old. the problem is that although the 6yr has much more trail experience, he acts up around other horses (pretty bad), and he dosent listen very well (hes very stubborn). i have been working with the 3yr (he is less experienced), i took him out on trails a few times and he does really good (better than the 6yr), but i dont know how he would act with alot of horses around, plus i am afraid that the long ride might put too much stress on him physicly and phycologically. what should i do? i feel as though it would be a gamble with either one, but i am very experienced and know how to handle a bad situation.

Personally, I would go with the 6 year old provided his health is good. Six is plenty young for a two day trail ride. I have done many Marathon trails on horses much older. The reason why I am suggesting the six year old is because he has more trail experience is less likely to spook.

Further, you can make him ride in the back for a while. That way, he doesn't kick anyone in the trail line. He may not like it and he might fight you at first, but it is a long ride and eventually he will tire and come together.

If you really want to take the 3 year old, be prepared. Though he is better with other horses, his lack of trail experience may create worse problems in the long run, like bolting and shying, which in the end could ruin him and create a lot of headaches for you in the future to bring him back together.
