The best thing to do would be to get your gerbil a new partner. It will probably be easiest if you get a youngster or two (about 8 weeks old) and try get them used to your surviving one. You can do this by partitioning your cage with wire and placing the youngsters on one side of the cage and your gerbil on the other side. Make sure that there is no possibility of them having physical contact! Then you have to make them swap sides of the cage every day for a few days, so that they can get used to each other's smell. No, but why in the WORLD Did you LEt your Gerbil Drown IN A BUCKET OF WATER!!!!

Why would you do that? quite possibly, or just get very depressed, and eventually die from that, they are sociable creatures... I can't think why your gerbil drowned in a bucket of water...?. My sons gerbil died of natural causes about 6 months ago, and they other one is still living. It is possible. my rabbit died when it's cage mate died. i would recomend to get another one No he won't die without his companion, please be careful in the future with this one i'm sure it must have been a dreadful accident but just tak care with this one it could get very depressed, then it would stop eating, so yes, it will probably die, just get another gerbil to make the other one happy. but you have to keep them seperate for a while, then gradually make them friends, otherwise the first gerbil could consider his cage his property so then it'll think the other gerbil was trespassing. they'll attack each other. i hope i helped.
