Where can I get a guinea pig?

Please consider adopting a pair of guinea pigs! Guineas sold in stores are often mis-sexed, and many times are harboring illnesses or parasites like mites. Not only that, but when you buy a pig from a petstore you are supporting breeding mills and backyard breeders, where pigs are continually bred just for a source of profit. And petstores sell the pigs to just anyone who has the money, without a care what type owner they might be. Who would want to support practices like that?

Good Luck. well you CAN go to a pet store, but I wouldn't suggest it, some sows come home pregnant! and often they have inguries from other animals! I would look at local rabbit shows! usually they have a rubber made container full of cavies (guinea pigs) for about $5 each, and they're healthy! you could also look online at craigslist.com for guinea pigs needing new homes! good luck! ps, if you get a cavie at petsmart, make SURE it is not housed with other cavies, they can get pregnant or sick. you should get a rescue guinea pig, one that needs a home. it would be used to being handled by humans, and you would save it :) look in the newspaper classified section Depending on where you live and what you're located next to you could rescue one which is a good idea, go to google and type in guinea pih rescue and then the state you live in and see what you find, also call around to local shelters, some take guinea pigs in
