Well, they do serve some sort of purpose in the "circle of life." Did you know that maggots, the larvae form of flies, are used in severe burn cases to help rid of dead skin and generate new skin? Maggots eat dead things (that's why flies hang out in trash and on dead animals). Weird, kind of gross, but completely true. that is a hard question because different people have different opinions. god knows his reason , we know ours. They are all part of natures food chain, and unfortunately they are irritating little b@stards! without them, we wouldn't have other animals, such as frogs (they eat the flies) flies decompose dead material when they eat it and i think mosquitos are just food for other animals <_< They're food for other animals. You should hear what they say about us! flies eat dead animals, other wise we would be buried neck deep in them , I don't like them but every insect/species has a purpose IDK, but how would we rid of ALL of them? Well technically they both fall into the same category believe it or not.

They pollinate many species of plant (bees/wasps being the only ones that pollinate more).
