A pair of girl gerbils or 3-4 boy gerbils. Gerbils do really well in pairs.

That is a nice cage. You may want to cover the bars though because small animals can get their paws stuck in the bars and can break their feet, arms and legs. Otherwise the cage should work well! You should get 2 girls I would say 4-8 (maybe). If you are going to get more than two, boys are the best bet. Yes, most gerbils are VERY sweet. yes 4-8 should do it.. big enough cage ive had hamsters and gerbils i tend to like gerbs more but dont have any at he moment/ how did you attache thatmesh or screen to the aqaurium? 3-5 depending if its 3 stories or 2 because you only showed the 2nd and 3rd story. get boys, girls are very teratorial. anyone can easily put up to 5 boys together but with girls only 2 or 3 Well it looks huge and the way you describe it, it seems o.k. safety wise, umm well it depends how much you want to provide for, as far as the how many question goes. I would definitly recammend getting more than one, maybe 3. But please purchase them all at one time so that there aren't any territorial issues. I have two females, but I think that boys are easier to cuddle and give attention to because if you hold them more, then they aren't as independant, but that goes for females and males. I would pick males.Hope this helps. probably around 4-8. Its very big.
