Woud a rat i found in my garage ..

If the rat's fur is a brownish color all over, with perhaps a greyer tint on it's belly (be careful handling, use gloves if necessary) then it is most likely wild and you should call a local wildlife rescue.

These rescue operations can deal with wild rats with much more ease. If there is a significant amount of white color in the fur it could be an escapee. IF that is the case, take it to a vet for a full examination to make sure it is well, and without any other pets, such as fleas, mites, lice, etc.

... and tell your folks up front. It's usually not a good idea to ask for a pet that you have hidden from them. ummm no it wouldn't, it could have diseases and it can attract more rats into your house. Get rid of it soon before your parents kill you lol. No. This is a wild animal and should live outside. Please release it and do not try to tame it. check for any diseases with a proper vet clean it up and ask your parents cause if they find it theyll go mad No. Not at all.

It probably has fleas, which means if you put it under your bed, you may have fleas in the mattress now. It could also have other health problems, like intestinal parasites, heartworm, etc. Some of these can be transferred to you. Yeah, it could have rabies, but that's unlikely compared to the others I've listed. Still, rabies is pretty serious, and not something to take lightly.
